LTPOA Newsletter Sept. 2025

Lake Terrace residents,

Here is the Lake Terrace Property Owners Association (LTPOA) newsletter. If you know of anything happening in or around the neighborhood and would like to share any news, drop us a line and tell us what you would like shared and invite feedback on what we, as the LTPOA board can do to help Lake Terrace be a better place to live and enhance our community.

We would also like to ask any of our neighbors who may be interested in becoming a Board Member to think about it and plan to volunteer at the annual LTPOA Meeting in early 2026. You can contact us at members@laketerracepoa.com

City Elections - Mayor, City Council, Sherriff, Assessor, Coroner, Criminal and District Court Clerks

The LTPOA Board has requested that each candidate for City Council District D (our district) send a note to our residents as to why they would like your vote. We received responses from Leilani Hano and Belden "Noonie Man" Batiste. We did not receive a response from Eugene Green. These responses will be included in a separate email notification. Also, you can view a recording of a debate between the City Council District D candidates using this link, https://youtu.be/PhgDd5iZDc8?feature=shared

Neighborhood Social Event - College Football in Boreas Park - Saturday November 8th

I hope you can agree when we say it has been too long since we held our last social event, so mark the date on your calendar. The LTPOA held a neighborhood garage sale earlier this summer to raise funds for a social event, and as the weather turns cooler, the time has arrived. The current plan is to set up the giant screen and projector in Boreas Park for some evening college football action. LSU will be playing Alabama on November 8th. We hope this game will be scheduled as a night game. Game times aren't finalized until ~2 weeks before the game. If it isn't a night game, we will still have another game playing on the "Jumbotron". Snacks and drinks will be provided, but please BYOB and chairs. We will update everyone with more details as they are available, and we still need to work through the logistics of getting internet access to the projector in the park. To be continued.

Road Construction in Lake Terrace

In case you haven't noticed, there has been a great deal of infrastructure construction going on in our neighborhood. Cox is installing new underground internet cables and there is a $10M FEMA-funded effort that began in July 2025 and is expected to reach completion by Fall 2026. This project will improve five blocks and includes full reconstruction, which covers subsurface utility work, surface restoration, and accessibility enhancements. Work is underway on Bertha St. and just beginning on Frankfort St. The map below shows all of the impacted streets. You can also find more information on the city's Public Works site here.
